University of the Punjab, Lahore admits students to its BS / undergraduate programmes, including computing at PUCIT (Faculty of Computing & IT, FCIT), only through online applications. You must first take the PU Admission Test, which counts for 25% of merit (33% for engineering programmes), then apply on admissions.pu.edu.pk when the portal opens. For 2026-27 the portal was open from 2 July to 4 August 2026.

Who can apply
- BS (1st semester): FA / FSc or equivalent. Candidates who have appeared in Intermediate Part-II and are awaiting results can be admitted provisionally on the basis of their Intermediate Part-I result.
- Regular (morning) programmes: age not more than 24 years on the closing date of the online form. There is no age limit for Self-Supporting, Replica, Afternoon and Evening programmes.
- BS (5th semester): BA / BSc / Associate Degree (14 years of education) or equivalent; age not more than 26 years for regular programmes.
- Engineering programmes: FSc (Pre-Engineering / Pre-Medical), relevant DAE, ICS, A-Level or equivalent with at least 60% marks, and a test accepted under PEC regulations (ECAT by UET Lahore, PU-E / PU-M / PU-CSP, or NUST entry test).
- PUCIT / FCIT BS Computer Science programmes: HSSC / A-Level (12 years of schooling) or IBCC equivalent with at least 50% marks and Mathematics. Students without Intermediate Mathematics must pass 6 credit hours of Mathematics deficiency courses in the first year.
- The PU Admission Test is mandatory for undergraduate programmes, including every FCIT (PUCIT) programme. Last year's PU test result is not valid for new admissions.
- Two marks are deducted from the academic percentage for each late session, up to five previous sessions.

- • Session 2026-27: the online admission portal was open from 2 July 2026 (8:00 AM) to 4 August 2026 (11:59 PM).
- • Session 2026-27, Phase 2 (vacant seats): applications were accepted from 8 to 28 September 2026 on a first come, first served basis (challan generation time decides priority when seats are limited). Fresh candidates and those who could not appear in any test could also apply.
- • PU Admission Test for 2026-27 was tentatively scheduled for 14 June 2026; a PU 2nd Admission Test was announced for 19 July 2026. Dates for the 2027-28 cycle had not been published on the official pages checked.
- • Weightage of the entry test: 33% for engineering programmes and 25% for non-engineering programmes.
- • PUCIT / FCIT BS merit formula: ((¼ of matric obtained marks + Inter Part-I obtained marks + 20 if Hafiz-e-Quran) ÷ (¼ of matric total marks + Inter Part-I total marks)) × 75 + (PU Admission Test obtained marks × 0.25).
- • LLB needs both the HEC LAT and the PU Admission Test. Pharm-D accepts MDCAT or the PU Admission Test. College of Art & Design programmes also need a separate drawing / aptitude test.
- • PUCIT / FCIT tuition per semester (as stated on the FCIT page): Rs. 75,000 for morning and Rs. 125,000 for self-support.
- • Test and application fees are non-refundable and non-transferable. Applications are not accepted by hand, post or courier.
- • Hostel accommodation is limited and not available to students in Self-Supporting, Afternoon, Replica and Evening programmes.
- • Reserved seats include 2% sports, 2% co-curricular, 2% special persons, and 2% religious minorities (BS 1st semester).

Questions people ask
›Is the PU entry test required for PUCIT?
Yes. The PU Admission Test is mandatory for admission to any FCIT (PUCIT) programme and carries 25% weight in merit.
›How is PUCIT merit calculated?
75% from academics (¼ of matric marks plus Inter Part-I marks, with 20 extra marks for Hafiz-e-Quran) and 25% from the PU Admission Test score.
›Can I use last year's PU test result?
No. The results of last year's PU tests are not valid for new admissions.
›Is there an age limit?
For regular BS programmes, 24 years on the closing date (26 for BS 5th semester). There is no age limit for Self-Supporting, Replica, Afternoon and Evening programmes.
