A learner permit is the first step towards a driving licence in Punjab; you need it before you can take the driving test. You can apply online through DLIMS (now on the Dastak platform) and print it straight away after payment, or visit a driving licence office or Police Khidmat Markaz with your original CNIC.

Who can apply
- Motorcycle / motor car: minimum age 18 years.
- LTV, rickshaw, tractor (commercial): minimum age 21 years.
- HTV: minimum age 22 years and must hold a car or LTV licence that is at least 3 years old (City Traffic Police Rawalpindi). City Traffic Police Lahore lists the HTV learner age as 23 years.

- 2Fill in the learner permit application form and choose the vehicle category (motorcycle, car, etc.).لرنر پرمٹ کا درخواست فارم پُر کریں اور گاڑی کی کیٹیگری (موٹر سائیکل، کار وغیرہ) منتخب کریں۔
- 3Upload your photo, CNIC front and back, and the medical certificate if required.اپنی تصویر، شناختی کارڈ کا اگلا اور پچھلا رخ، اور ضرورت ہو تو میڈیکل سرٹیفکیٹ اپ لوڈ کریں۔

Good to know
- • The learner permit is valid for 6 months (e-Khidmat Markaz).
- • You can apply for the driving test 42 days after the learner permit is issued (City Traffic Police Rawalpindi).
- • You may drive on a learner permit only with a red 'L' on a white background pasted on the front and back of the vehicle, and with a licensed driver sitting with you.
- • Uploaded documents must be clear, within size limits and in an accepted format (PDF, JPEG, etc.).
- • A driving licence is not issued on a NADRA receipt; bring your CNIC.
- • All DLIMS online services have moved to Dastak (dastak.punjab.gov.pk); you can link your old DLIMS account there.
