After holding a learner permit for 42 days, you can take the driving test at a Punjab traffic police licensing centre. If you pass the sign test, vision/medical check and driving test and pay the fee, your licence card is couriered to your address and an e-licence is available on DLIMS.

Who can apply
- You must hold a learner permit for the same category; you can apply for the test 42 days after it was issued.
- Motorcycle / motor car: minimum age 18 years.
- LTV, rickshaw, tractor (commercial): minimum age 21 years.
- HTV: minimum age 22 years and must hold a car or LTV licence that is at least 3 years old (City Traffic Police Rawalpindi). City Traffic Police Lahore lists the HTV learner age as 23 years.
- PSV licence: issued after 1 year of holding an LTV/HTV licence.

Good to know
- • Fees on the DLIMS fee structure are for one year; you can take the licence for 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5 years (maximum).
- • For a combination of categories, the fee of the highest category applies.
- • Invalid carriage licence: test and licence fee Rs. 0 (only the Rs. 480 courier charge).
- • City Traffic Police Rawalpindi and Lahore publish different per-year figures on their own pages (e.g. Rawalpindi lists Rs. 1,500 per year for a car and Lahore quotes 'ticket' amounts); the amount on your PSID/receipt is final. The figures here are from the DLIMS fee structure.
- • HTV licence: only after 3 years of holding a car/LTV licence; get an HTV learner permit from the licence centre of the district that issued your licence.
- • A driving school course (15 days) does not include licence fees, and a licence is issued only after passing the driving test.
