Apply for the CSS competitive exam

Who can apply

• Citizen of Pakistan, or a person deriving nationality from the State of Jammu and Kashmir
• Age not below 21 and not above 30 years on the cut-off date (31 December of the year before the exam)
• Two years' upper-age relaxation for specified categories, including in-service government servants with at least two years' continuous service, persons with disabilities, scheduled caste/Buddhist candidates, and permanent residents of Balochistan, specified tribal areas, AJK and Gilgit-Baltistan (with the required certificate)
• At least a second division or grade 'C' bachelor's degree from a Pakistani university, or an equivalent qualification (a third division bachelor's is accepted if the candidate has a higher division in a master's degree)
• No more than three chances within the age limits

Documents you need

• Matriculation certificate or other accepted proof of date of birth
• Bachelor's (and any higher) degree documents
• Domicile certificate
• Certificate supporting any age-relaxation claim (e.g. departmental permission certificate for in-service candidates, disability certificate)

Good to know

• • The CSS Competitive Examination Rules (2019 and onwards) set the application fee at Rs. 2,200 "or such other fee as the Commission may determine from time to time". Check the current CSS advertisement for the fee in force.
• • For CE-2027, FPSC has published online admission certificates for the MPT (preliminary test) stage on its CSS schedule page.
• • The written examination is held at Abbottabad, Bahawalpur, Dera Ghazi Khan, Dera Ismail Khan, Faisalabad, Gilgit, Gujranwala, Hyderabad, Islamabad, Karachi, Lahore, Larkana, Multan, Muzaffarabad, Peshawar, Quetta, Rawalpindi, Sargodha and Sukkur, and any other place the Commission decides.
• • A chance is counted as used if you appear in even one paper, even with a blank answer book. Concealing previous attempts can lead to disqualification.
• • Once a date of birth is accepted by the Commission, no change is allowed at a later exam.
• • A candidate married to a non-Pakistani is not eligible for appointment, unless the marriage was to a national of a country recognised by the Federal Government with the Government's prior permission.
